Accellion Launches First Virtual Appliance for Secure File Transfer
In a move aimed at small and mid-size businesses that currently rely on file transfer protocol (FTP) software, e-mail attachments or instant messages to send files, Accellion has released a virtualised version of its namesake file transfer appliance. The Accellion virtual appliance is designed to help IT departments securely manage the transmission of large files that are often otherwise sent as e-mail attachments.
The Accellion virtual appliance, from the providers of on-demand secure file transfer solutions, operates identical to their hardware-based appliance. In addition to an easy-to-use interface, customers can quickly send and receive files in a format that meets standard security and privacy requirements. It also offers tracking and reporting capabilities to help customer’s document conformance with security and compliance requirements during electronic file transfers.
Accellion claims to have more than 300 enterprise customers for its on-premises appliance models, with an aggregate total of more than 1 million end users. Its customer base includes many media, advertising and engineering companies, where it's common for employees to send large files to clients and colleagues
The Accellion Secure File Transfer Virtual Appliance is available immediately in several models to support the various secure file transfer needs of any size enterprise. Pricing for the virtual appliance starts at USD 2000 per year. Additional fees for end user licenses and configurable items such as LDAP integration, custom branding, and automation agents apply.
