Information Foundation > Write For Us

Do you know about an interesting topic and want to write on it? The International PHP Magazine is always looking for authors who are capable of writing on PHP-related topics. Our readership is varied and ranges from power users and experienced expert programmers to people who are new to PHP. We welcome submissions from all readers. All feature articles run from 2000-3000 words. The magazine provides a range from introductory to complex "insider" articles to match our readership in various fields, such as:

  • General PHP

  • PHP & Business

  • PHP & Databases

  • PHP Design

  • PHP & XML

  • PHP-GTK

  • PEAR & PECL

The articles in the above sections broadly follow any of the following core structures:

  • Discuss sound development practices and offer advice for managing and maximizing team development efficiency within all aspects of the development lifecycle. These articles offer up real world experience with clear, informative examples on how the reader can implement those experiences.

  • Provide clear description of a tool, software, or technology and explain the latest developments or developing with PHP and other open source technologies. These independent software tests and reviews, product round-ups, and special guides, top tools and trends provide an authoritative, clear and in depth report on the topic. This real world examples are used to make the programmer’s job easier or enhance the performance of applications.

  • Provide a personal account, a case study, of what happened when an individual or development team implemented a technology or process, the process they went through, the benefits they gained, and the lessons they learned along the way.

  • Focus on the human factor in software development with soft articles that help the reader to maximize their career advancement opportunities in software development.

The articles should be straight talk, as if though you are passing on advice to a technically astute colleague. While it should have an authoritative tone, it need not be boring or devoid of humor. Tell a story, and use educational examples to show how. The article should include figures, code listings, and images to illustrate or support your points.

An article should be written keeping in mind what the reader can take away from it -- in the process of writing you should ask yourself questions, such as, "Will this article offer new insight into a technology and how it impacts development?", "Will the article explain how to implement a practice that will make their job easier and more efficient?", and "Will it inspire the reader to learn more about the technology to learn more about the technology or make positive changes in their developmental practices?".

If your proposal is accepted, we will revert to you with feedback, an agreement with competitive fees. We will also provide you with handy documents that will be a helpful resource as you prepare to write the article, assist you with reviews from our editorial team, undertake a high-quality production effort, and very effective marketing and sales results.

Of course you can help to ensure your article gets the widest possible readership. If your article is of interest to some other community than might normally read International PHP Magazine, you may like to draw it to their attention, or suggest ways for us to promote your article.
